We held our Counselor Training in mid-November at St. Theresa Kisubi Girls Primary. It was an exciting opportunity to get to know each other, learn about camp rules and games and really connect over our desire to empower youth.

Ugandan and American counselors arrived on a Friday afternoon, tired from long bus rides. Though as you can see, the next morning everyone was energetic and excited to start talking about Camp GLOW. Our First Ever Counselor Training had begun!

The Camp GLOW Directors, Amanda, Lauren and Celeste facilitated teambuilding games, walks to Lake Victoria, tours of Kisubi and other fun activities. As we ran around laughing and trying to win games, we learnt about Life Skills, Health, Gender Issues and ways to support the 154 Camp GLOW girls in their fight to become empowered leaders of Uganda.

While the Counselor Training was only 2 days, we were able to connect with each other as we shared insights, strategies and real life situations that young women face in Uganda today.

The Counselor Training brought our spirits together, ready to be team players and role models for Camp GLOW as well as our own communities.
