Daily Activities
Each day girls chose to do any one of these activities after the day's sessions finished. These activities were fun alternatives to the normal classroom settings. It also gave the girls the opportunity to mix with girls in other groups.
Netball
Girls got to practice their netball skills with others from across the country on the sports pitch.
Football
By far the most popular sport in Uganda, girls get to show each other their skills during free time.
Frisbee
Peace Corps Volunteers have slowly introducing frisbee and ultimate to students all across Uganda and the popularity is catching. (And so are the bad puns!)
Hip Hop
If there is one thing girls like to do in every country, it is to dance. Here was a session where some hip-hop moves were let loose.
Jazz Dance
As a follow up session the girls expanded their repertoire with some Jazz moves.
Break Dancing
Free-styling never looked so good. Just another way to get down for the ladies at Camp GLOW.
Nature Walk
Perched this close to Lake Victoria, it is impossible to miss the natural beauty around this campus. A nature walk takes most of the girls into an environment they are unfamiliar with down to the lake shore.
Sign Language
With students from the school for the deaf in Masaka, a free time session of sign language is offered for girls to learn a truly unique way to communicate with their new friends.
Singing
What is camp without camp songs? Here some of our ladies learning some new songs to take back to their schools.
Yoga
The ladies of Camp GLOW have an avenue to clear their minds and stretch their muscles. Some of our PCVs lead their students in this new experience.
Friendship Bracelets
Movie Night
A great way to wind down the day. Both movies focused on women working hard to overcome obstacles. Mulan and The Parent Trap were both big hits.
DEAR
Camp GLOWers are introduced to 'Drop Everything And Read' with half an hour of reading each morning.
Question Box
Each day girls submit questions anonymously into the question box and at each morning message a number of them are read and answered to the entire group. It is a great way for girls to ask questions about sensitive issues and they are rarely the only ones who are curious about those issues.
