What is Gender?

A social and cultural construction that defines acceptable behaviour, dress, language, skills, roles and responsibilities of a man or woman.

This text was written by Jospehine Ahikire, a professor in the Department of Women's Studies at Makerere University in Kampala, Uganda. It is based on data from the 1990's but offers insight into the changing situation in the country.  

This text was compiled by Uganda's Ministry of Finance and includes information on strategies used to fight gender inequalities as well as the effectiveness of those strategies.

This text was compiled by the United Nation's Development Programme and highlights general information on gender inequalities and provides links to other websites.
